The difference is in the fixtures and the install quality. Cheap fixtures run $50-100 each and use plastic housings with thin copper leads that corrode and fail within four to five years. Pro-grade fixtures run $200-400 each, use solid brass or stainless with rated gaskets, and are built to last two decades. Add proper installation and a 15-year fixture warranty, and the higher upfront cost is lower over the system’s lifetime.
Almost nothing. Low-voltage LED draws 3-7 watts per fixture, so a typical 20-fixture system running dusk-to-dawn costs about $3-6 a month in electricity — the cheapest exterior upgrade you can make per dollar of visible impact.
Rarely. The LED modules in our pro-grade fixtures are rated for 50,000+ hours, roughly twenty years of dusk-to-dawn use. If one does fail, our 15-year fixture warranty covers both the fixture and the module for that entire window.
Sometimes. If your current transformer and wiring were sized correctly, we can extend it. Many older systems were undersized from day one, and adding fixtures just causes dimming and early transformer failure — we’ll diagnose that on a site visit before recommending anything.
Add a smart controller and weatherproof outlets during install, and your system can run holiday string lights on the same schedule, no extension cords across the lawn. Or we can wire dedicated holiday outlets at key tree and roofline points as a stand-alone add-on.
Lighting works best when it’s planned alongside your other outdoor projects — cleaner install, one crew, one schedule.
Wire-routing for lighting is dramatically cheaper when it’s planned during a new patio or fire pit build, not retrofitted after.
