Most patios fail in year three because of base prep. We’re Belgard and Unilock certified, run an in-house crew only, and back every job with a 5-year written hardscape warranty we honor without question.
Pavers, joints, edge restraints and base — all warrantied for five years in writing. Most patio installers offer a one-year courtesy warranty, or none at all. We put your name on a contract that holds for half a decade.

The step most installers skip. We dig six inches below grade, lay woven geotextile, then compact aggregate in two-inch lifts — so patios don’t shift with frost.

With proper base prep — eight inches of compacted aggregate, geo-fabric, and a polymeric sand-locking joint system — a paver patio should last 25+ years without visible settling or heave. Natural stone and poured concrete hold up similarly if the base is done right. What kills patios fastest is a skimped base — we’ve torn out 2-year-old patios other installers built on two inches of sand.
Most residential patios in Minnesota don’t need permits, but we check your city and HOA requirements before design. Commercial projects or ones connecting to drainage systems occasionally need them, and we handle that paperwork start to finish.
Pavers (Belgard, Unilock) give you the most design flexibility, consistent sizing, and the easiest repair if a stone ever shifts. Natural flagstone has one-of-a-kind character and suits organic shapes, but costs more and is harder to color-match years later. We show you both on your site visit.
April through October, with spring and early summer the sweet spot — you get to use the patio that same summer. Fall installs are fine too; we break ground through October and finish before freeze. Winter excavation isn’t practical in Minnesota.
Workmanship. If the patio settles, heaves, or joints fail from how we installed it, we fix it at no charge. Natural stone color-matching carries a slightly shorter guarantee since suppliers change stock, and paver manufacturer warranties — often 10 to 25 years on the material itself — pass through to you separately.
Coordinating scopes in one project saves money and produces a cleaner result.
Path lights, uplights and step lighting extend patio use after dark — cleanest when wired in during the patio install.
AFTER-DARK USE
Framing your patio with perennials and shrubs makes the whole space feel finished — bundle at install for the best pricing.
FINISHED LOOK
A retaining or seat wall adds seating and defines a patio’s edge in one structure — designed and built alongside the patio itself.
